El’s Drive-In, Since 1959
At El’s Drive-In out of Morehead City, NC, we already carry a fairly famous reputation having made a number of TV appearances and features in magazines such as Southern Living, Cooking with Paula Deen and Our State. We are honored to have been recognized for our incredible and unique food! But at the end of the day – we are truly focused on giving each customer an incredible and memorable experience through quality food, astounding service and a fun atmosphere.
Our Traditions, Our Community
In keeping with the tradition of a real old-fashioned drive-in restaurant, we have no indoor seating available. Our customers are served right at their car, or under the oak trees at the picnic tables, by one of our many incredible waitresses. You’ll never have to listen to menu options through a broken squawk box or scream your orders into a busted microphone here. We love people, and cherish real interaction!
We are truly family owned and operated, and always have been! El’s Drive-In was started by and named after El Franks in 1959. El brought on his son Mark, after he completed his service in the US Army, helping with the business full time until eventually taking over operations. Though El has since passed, Mark, his wife Gail and their son Shelton, work hard to maintain the integrity, commitment to amazing food and love for community that El originally established. Three generations of the Franks family, proudly serving their community, not only through incredible food and tradition, but through hands on community involvement. We are a member of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce and support many important local groups, such as our three high school bands and athletic associations, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Boys and Girls Club, the local Domestic Violence Shelter, many churches, and even local pet shelters.
Come on down for a burger, a shake and some incredible atmosphere, we’re excited to meet and serve you!
